INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY MESSAGES (in order received)

POLE OF THE COMMUNIST REBIRTH IN FRANCE (PRCF)

Oct. 9, 2008 Dear Comrades

Your national conference is taking place in a particularly crucial period for the people of the United States. We don’t know who at this time will be elected president of the U.S., but we understand quite well the difficulty that you would have during this campaign. It was impossible for you to say, “Vote Obama and the imperialist wars will end and the economic crisis will vanish,” but you must at the same time take account of the mood in popular communities that are the most oppressed, Black people in particular, who could feel proud that a Black person for the first time has been named a presidential candidate.

Less than 20 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall and the defeat of the European socialist camp, the same capitalism that then proclaimed that it was the end of history has entered into a structural crisis that Marxists have analyzed as sharpening over the last period. For the principle cause of this crisis is evidently not the bad actions of some petty speculators. It is the direct result of an unfettered capitalism that for a quarter-century has favored a policy of maximizing profits for the bosses by increasing the exploitation of the proletariat and the least prosperous middle-class layers.

This situation makes it important for all communists and progressives to intensify the struggle against the criminalization of communism, for solidarity with socialist Cuba and the progressive regimes of Latin America, and for the withdrawal of the occupation troops from Iraq, Afghanistan and Palestine.

No, contrary to what the representatives of big capital have been saying for at least 20 years, capitalism has not triumphed for good. It won’t be necessary to wait too long to see the “victors” waver.

We wish good work to the delegates to your national conference.

Long live proletarian internationalism Long live tomorrow’s socialist society.

For the national secretariat of the PRCF, Daniel Antonini

COMMUNIST PARTY OF BOLIVIA INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS COMMISSION

La Paz, October 2008

To the comrades of Workers World Party

John Catalinotto, International Department New York

Esteemed comrades: We are happy to address your National Conference and send you our wishes that have a complete success in its deliberations, and that the conclusions your discussions lead to will be useful to reinforce the struggle of the workers and all the people of the USA in winning their historical objectives, as well as serving at the same time in working toward the unity of U.S. Marxists in a moment, more than at other times, in which their struggles can obtain positive results, given the crisis that capitalism is undergoing.

The current capitalist crisis, which began in the United States with the bursting of the “financial bubble,” has once again demonstrated that capitalism is a system plagued with irresolvable contradictions whose malignant effects are loaded onto the backs of the working people. The methods the Bush administration has adopted are aimed at saving the bankers and in general the big bourgeoisie, passing on the costs to the true producers of social wealth, who are the workers. Also, the peoples of the world, especially those in the weakest position, will also suffer the effects of the crisis. At the same time this will contribute to clarifying the minds of the people so they see that it is the capitalist system in its entirety that is guilty of creating these suffering. It is with the struggle of the workers and of all the people, however, that it is possible to approach the end of capitalism and open the road to a real change that can be nothing other than the construction of socialism.

Repeating our most cordial greetings and wishes for your success, we greet you,

In the name of the Political Commission of the Communist Party of Bolivia,

Marcos Domich,

Secretary of International Relations

Greetings to the National Conference of the Workers World Party, USA

Copenhagen, 30th October 2008 Dear comrades,

The Danish Communist Party conveys its warmest greetings to the National Conference of the Workers World Party.

Your National Conference is taking place at a moment of serious crisis and dangers, not only for the working people but for very future of humanity.

The present crisis is not only a financial crisis or the crisis of neo-liberalism, which has dominated the world scene for three decades. It is a crisis of the capitalist system as such, a crisis in the very structures of capitalism.

What we are witnessing now is that the ruling bourgeoisie – in each country and at an international level – is trying its utmost the save the capitalist system and let the workers and the poor pay for the crisis. We are witnessing the sharpening of the class struggle from above. It is the task of the revolutionaries and communists to prepare and lead the inevitable answer from below, from the working class and its allies.

We are aware of the fact that the measures taken by the international bourgeoisie in order to safe the capitalist system will only create new and even worse problems that will bring new suffering to the working people all over the globe. The danger of new imperialist wars and aggression will grow as the capitalists will try to find a way out of the present “overproduction” of capital in its various forms.

On the other hand we know that it is precisely in moments of serious structural crisis that there are real possibilities of mobilizing the working class and its allies in order to challenge the very exploiting logic of the capitalist system and replace it with a human system built upon new relations of solidarity, social property and internationalism.

In this situation, we hope and believe that your National Conference will contribute to the strengthening of the struggle against imperialism, and U.S. imperialism in particular, as well as the fight against the present attempts of the international bourgeoisie to destroy social and democratic rights conquered decades ago by the working people.

Let the capitalists pay for their own crisis! Long live solidarity and proletarian internationalism!

Sven Tarp International department

CORRIENTE ROJA (RED CURRENT—SPANISH STATE) Dear Workers World comrades.

From Red Current (Corriente Roja) of the Spanish State we send our fraternal greetings to you and all our best wishes that your National Conference achieve the results you need to allow the working class and the people of the USA to confront the enormous challenges that this moment of world history requires.

We are convinced that the crisis of global capitalism, which has its epicenter in the U.S., offers enormous possibilities that millions workers the world over can become aware of the power capitalism has to destroy both human life and the natural resources of the world, and that will begin to understand—with a clarity that had been impossible to convey until this moment--that the only possible road forward is one of class struggle and that the only reasonable alternative is socialism.

You know that your struggle provides an example for workers in countries like ours, with very similar models of growth, and in which the consequences of the crisis affect the working class in a similar way: massive layoffs, scarcities of necessities of life and loss of homes.

We are facing, as you are too, the need to rebuild the workers’ movement, which up until now has been captive of union organizations subsidized by the state and the bosses, that play the role of allies of those in power to paralyze the class struggle.

You know that your fight is central for all the peoples of the world and that we value your efforts as we do our own.

Today, more than ever:

Long live the struggle of the workers and the people of the United States!

Long live the internationalist and anti-imperialist struggle of all the peoples of the world!

ANTI-IMPERIALIST CAMP Dear friends and comrades,

In the name of the Anti-imperialist Camp we convey our warm and fraternal greetings to your conference, which takes place right at an important turn of the global situation.

The U.S. Empire, as it has been built after the implosion of the USSR, is in decisive trouble. Its permanent war has been unable to suppress the popular resistances, which sprang up in across the world, especially in the Middle East. On the contrary, aggression has awakened increased resistance.

This led to a situation in which the U.S. establishment has so far been unable to launch an attack on Iran, and which gave Russia the possibility to militarily defend the Caucasus as its sphere of influence. Without military intervention punishing its challengers, the American Empire would fade out into a multi-polar world.

In this very crucial situation, the financial crisis of the capitalist center exploded, which will definitely weaken the attraction of Western capitalism and especially its leading attraction: the [U.S.] American way of life. The crisis brings back a potential of unrest and political antagonism also to the West, a struggle that for a lengthy period has been marginalized.

We believe that the future U.S. president – no matter who wins the race – will continue and even increase the war drive although maybe with modified rhetoric. We will see increased wars driven by the U.S. and NATO not only in the Middle East but also in Eastern Europe and other parts of the world.

In this sense we look forward to a strong co-operation, while working towards the unification of the global anti-imperialist forces as well as the construction of new anti-capitalist nucleuses also in the West.

With the most comradely greetings Willi Langthaler On behalf of the Anti-imperialist Camp Friday, October 31, 2008, 6:32:23 PM

SOCIALIST UNITY CENTRE OF INDIA (SUCI) November 3, 2008 Nihar Mukhrjee, General Secretary of SUCI sends the following message of solidarity on the occasion of the National Conference of the Workers World Party, November 15-16, 2008.

Solidarity Message from Socialist Unity Centre of India

On the occasion of the National Conference of the Workers World Party of the United States of America, I, on behalf of my Party, the Socialist Unity Centre of India, send you warm revolutionary greetings and convey our best wishes for the success of your Conference and for the progress of your struggle. We admire your endeavor to build up militant working class movements on the American soil overcoming all odds. Your effort to hold high the banner of Marxism-Leninism in the bastion of capitalism is an inspiration to working class parties of countries all over the world. Your Conference is being held at a time when the economic collapse has brought calamity to the American people and millions are facing total ruin. USA is in turmoil over the economic catastrophe, on top of the disastrous consequences of its wars of aggression and intervention. The effects of the financial meltdown have spread all over the capitalist world which is convulsed with this severe economic crisis. Even the bourgeois economists are admitting that the effects of the present crisis would be more far-reaching in intensity and span than the great depression of the 1930s and they are at a loss to find ways to contain it.

After instigating the counter-revolutionary overthrow of socialism in Soviet Russia and the East European countries the capitalist class was trumpeting the final triumph of capitalism and was proclaiming that socialism is dead and buried, that Marxism is a failed ideology. Exposing all these utterances as simply rubbish and slanderous, the present crisis has brought into open the utterly putrid skeleton of the totally moribund capitalist system, the vicious circle into which it is inescapably entrapped, and the gasping state of its existence. At the same time it has once again proved beyond any debate how correct and infallible were Marx’s scientific analysis and conclusions about the crisis of capitalism. We strongly feel that the need of the hour for all the revolutionaries of the world is to strive to convincingly demonstrate to the people the infallibility of Marxism-Leninism, to carry its teachings to them and to educate them about the real character of the present crisis and the way-out based on the tenets of Marxism-Leninism.

We also note and perhaps you too have noted it, that in all the countries, as also in yours, the capitalist class, in its fanatic bid to tide over the crisis is trying to shift and pass on the entire burden arising out of this crisis to the working class of the respective countries. In an unabashed manner they are robbing common people of their hard-earned money to bail out the capitalists. We strongly feel that at this juncture, it is the first and foremost duty of all genuine Marxist-Leninist parties to come forward to organize the working class against these onslaughts. We do hope that you will also give thought over this crucial aspect. We firmly believe that your growing struggle against these attacks in the citadel of capitalism-imperialism would be adding further impetus to the revolutionary movements all over the world..

By the time the Conference starts the results of the US elections would be known. The Conference will surely make a thorough analysis from the working class viewpoint of the politics of the electoral process and the implications of the results. We are confident that the Conference would not fail to note that whatever be the result and whoever wins, by that the imperialist character of the US state is not going to fundamentally change. The American working class will have to continue and sharpen its fight against the imperialist state and its war-mongering policy, against exploitation and oppression, against racial discrimination and discrimination against immigrants. We must not fail to note that whatever minimum democratic element the bourgeois parliamentary system and its elections used to bear in the days when the system emerged and developed in the world, to howsoever minimum extent those reflected people’s dreams and wills, have all become matters of bygone days. Today in all the capitalist states, the electoral process is by and large controlled and manipulated by the capitalist-monopolist class, with the help of a vicious combination of money, muscle power and media, bringing to the seat of power whosoever they choose as their trusted political manager. I would like to mention in this connection that long back in his struggle to further advance the thoughts of Lenin and Stalin, Comrade Shibdas Ghosh, the founder General Secretary of our party SUCI and one of the foremost Marxist philosophers of this era, clearly stated that in the face of the irrevocable crisis of the system and out of the fear-complex of proletarian revolution, capitalism in all the capitalist states is struggling hard to find refuge in fascism which has thus appeared as a general phenomenon in the capitalist world. In his enunciation of fascism, he showed that fascism bears the distinguishing features of economic centralization, maximum concentration of political power in the state and rigid, firm administration relying upon the nexus of a military-industrial complex and bureaucracy, all this leading to more and more identification of the interest of the monopolists with that of the state. And in tune with all this, fascism also thrives upon cultural regimentation marked by fusion of spiritualism and technological progress of science. He also pointed out that in the present epoch, the monopolist class, unless forced by circumstances, does not necessarily follow the route of military dictatorship. With a view to minimizing resistance of people by confusing them, fascism is brought “in a ‘democratic’ form” keeping the façade of democracy, including its Constitution, be it through a multi-party or a two-party parliamentary system of government. In reality, from behind this façade, and with the help of the nexus of a military-industrial complex and bureaucracy, the capitalists-monopolists maintain their ruthless rule of administrative fascism.

We most ardently feel that revolutionaries of the world today must not fail to comprehend this imminent danger of emergence of fascism in the cloak of a democratic system and must not desist in their effort to make people conscious of this with a view to freeing them from the still-existing illusion of parliamentary system and elections.

Once again, we express our deepest appreciation of and full solidarity with the arduous struggle of the Workers World for holding aloft the banner of Marxism-Leninism against all odds in a land held as the fortress of capitalism-imperialism, in a state which acts as the demonic military-machine for perpetrating the rule of capital over the world. We sincerely wish all success to its National Conference. We firmly believe that your deliberations will significantly contribute to the international working class movement and your future struggle will provide unending inspiration to the freedom- and peace-loving people of the world.

ENERGY WORKERS FRONT, MEXICO Workers’ organization affiliated to The World-wide Union Federation www.fte-energia.org | energia@fte-energia.org

Message of the FTE of Mexico to the Conference of New York Mexico City, 3 of November of 2008.

Energy Workers’ Front (FTE) of Mexico, made up of electricians, oil workers, nuclear, water and science workers send our greetings to the National Conference of the Workers World Party/Mundo Obrero, scheduled for Nov. 15-16 in New York City.

We are the Mexican workers with the greatest area of struggle at the side of the Worldwide Union Federation and base ourselves on the class struggle, on the need to unite the workers movements of the world, of proletarian solidarity, of anti-imperialism and internationalism.

The subjects on the Conference agenda have the greatest interest for the workers of the world. The current stage of Capitalism and the policies followed by neoliberal imperialism and governments are harmful for humanity. The present stage of the financial crisis will affect the population of North American and all continents, especially the poorest.

We will be pay close attention to the discussion and statements of the Conference. It is our opinion that the collapse of capitalism is not going to happen either immediately nor can it happen spontaneously. We lack an organized and conscious struggle on a world scale. We need a transitional program, from an organization which can extend and consolidate to the movement, and which can contribute in a practical way to solidarity with all workers and peoples in struggle. We recognize the North American workers, like you, for the enormous efforts that have been made and we wish you important successes for the Conference you have organized in New York.

In Mexico we are experiencing one on the most serious situations since the Mexican Revolution [of 1910-1920-tr], in the economic, political and social sectors as a consequence of neoliberalism, the attacks on democracy, and the corruption and domination of the transnational companies. More than 300 corporations—oil, gas, electrical energy and water, have seized our territory, on land and at sea. The electrical industry that we had won in 1960 [through nationalization-tr] has been 48 percent privatized. Recently, the deputies and senators of all the political parties have approved an energy reform harmful to the interests of the Mexican nation. That reform continues on the path of privatizing all the natural hydrocarbon resources and all the alternative sources of renewable and nonrenewable energy.

But the people of Mexico have not stopped struggling nor will they allow the private appropriation of the national property involving energy. The workers of the FTE are part of this great cause of all the Mexican people and, with solidarity and action, we participated widely, framing our action in the context of the class struggle, anti-imperialism and the right of nations to independence and freedom.

Please receive our warm greetings, that we extend to all the class-conscious North American proletariat. Long live the U.S. workers in struggle! Long live the delegates of Workers World Party who are attending the Conference in New York! Long live land and freedom! Workers of all the countries, Unite!

Dr. David Bahen, PhD FTE of Mexico

UNION OF THE PEOPLE OF GALICIA (UPG) To the comrades of the Workers World Party:

Galicia, 4 of November of 2008

Dear Comrades:

In the name of the Central Committee of the Union of the People of Galicia (UPG) I want to transmit a warm greeting, with the wish that your National Conference will be a great success.

On Nov. 15 and 16, when you are holding your National Conference, the active members of the UPG will be meeting for our XIIth National Congress, and we know that we are not only experiencing a coincidence of dates but that we are also in agreement regarding the objectives: the defense of the working-class and the oppressed people, beginning with the conviction that--as you write in your poster--“Capitalism is the problem and socialism is the solution.”

A period of questions about the future of the capitalist system has opened, as you who fight in the heart of the empire know very well, and in these circumstances we need to further analyze the current worldwide economic crisis and its consequences. We are sure that this will be one of the functions of your Conference and we also know that the discussions and conclusions of the conference will advance the Workers World Party in this new period of the class struggle in the USA.

Groups of comrades, in anticipation of the good conclusion of your national Conference, receive a patriotic communist greeting of the UPG from Galicia.

Duarte Correa Piñeiro, Secretary of International Relations Central committee of the Union of the People of Galicia (UPG)

COMMUNIST PARTY OF THE PEOPLES OF SPAIN (CPCE)

Dear comrades: Please accept the warmest greeting from your Spanish comrades on the occasion of your November National Conference.

At this time, the tremendous bankruptcy of the model of capitalist domination confirms and validates the justice of our vision of the world, of Marxist-Leninist analyses and of the necessity of our struggle. The millions that the present crisis is throwing out of their jobs and homes will without doubt cause them to turn towards you, North American communists, as their point of reference, now that socialism has been placed with ever more clarity before the eyes of more people as the only viable way out of capitalist barbarism.

It fills us with joy that, in the heart of the monster itself, our comrades call an event of such a nature that without a doubt it will be an important step forward in the offensive of progressive ideas and mass struggle. We are with you and we wish your National Conference great success.

With comradely greetings,

In the name of the Communist Party of the Peoples of Spain, Quim Boix, International Relations, CC of the PCPE Communist party of the Peoples of Spain

MESSAGE TO THE NATIONAL CONFERENCE OF Workers World Party

Comrades of Workers World Party:

We admire and greatly respect your fight in such adverse conditions and we would like that this sincere valuation reaches the minds and hearts of all the delegates of your important National Conference being held this 15 and 16 of November.

As recipients and witnesses of the internationalist solidarity that you have always shown on behalf of the liberation struggles of the countries and oppressed peoples fighting the structural submission and the United States imperialist policies of intervention and war, we also want in this occasion to express our gratitude for your systematic and valuable support.

This Conference takes place in the midst of this new systemic crisis of capitalism and of its center, represented by the USA, and in the middle of a period of promising social and political struggles in our continent and the world. Thereby the importance of your decisions that we hope will fortify the internal resistance with respect to the policies destined to make the workers and the people of the U.S shoulder its devastating effects, strengthen the opposition to the wars of aggression in the Middle East, Iraq and Afghanistan, and reinforce the solidarity with the Cuban revolution, the advanced transforming processes of Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador…, and to everything that represents self-determination and justice in our America and the world.

Great crises are the opportunities for great changes. The great crises of capitalism are breeding ground for self-determination, new democracies and new socialisms that is urgent to assume as responses to overcome a situation that will be yet more overwhelming and destructive as a consequence of an eventual chaotic course of the crisis as well as of the different variants of the attempts at recomposing the capitalist order.

Today more than ever is valid to exclaim: SOCIALISM OR BARBARISM!

ALWAYS UNTIL VICTORY!

PORTUGUESE COMMUNIST PARTY (PCP) CENTRAL COMMITTEE To the National Conference of the Workers World Party

Dear comrades We would like to convey, in this occasion, in which the emergence of the capitalist crisis in all its dimension, can bring serious challenges and dangers to the workers and peoples around the world, the best successes to the your National Conference and to the activity of the Workers World Party.

FROM LEILA GHANEM, BADA’EL MAGAZINE, BEIRUT INT’L FORUM

In a few short phrases I send to you this message of solidarity in the name of the Alternatives (Bada’el) magazine, the follow-up committee of the Jury of Conscience of the Court of Brussels to Consider Israeli War Crimes (regarding the 2006 aggression in Lebanon) and also as a coordinator of the Beirut International Forum of January 2009.

We salute your political stand and your solidarity with the people of the Middle East, who are in the first line of opposition to imperialism and predatory capitalism and colonialism in Iraq, in Lebanon and in Palestine.

Your solidarity goes beyond compassion with the suffering that our people experience but it is a real class solidarity which confronts imperialism on its own territory and within its machinery. We know that the arrival of Obama was amongst other things a condemnation of the aggressive and warlike Bush policy and of the policy of impoverishment of the U.S. population, but we fear that the embellishment of the U.S. image might be deceptive. And we observe with great concern his positions on the Palestinian issue. In this respect we expect no change and feel we must fight against what is already in progress: war, discrimination and extermination of the Palestinian people.

Long live solidarity among the peoples! Long live the U.S. working-class struggle!

Message to WWP Conference from Workers Party of Korea

Pyongyang, October 15, Juche 97 (2008)

The International Department of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea would like to extend its friendly greetings, through you, to the leadership and entire members of your Party.

This year marking the 60th founding anniversary of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) has focused all its efforts on implementing its main task of the year to work a historic landmark in building the DPRK into a great, powerful and prosperous nation.

The magnificent celebration of the DPRK’s 60th birthday by the WKP, the whole Korean People’s Army and the entire Korean people was a historic event that has demonstrated the distinguished repute of an invincible socialist Korea, now on an all-out march, designed to hand down to posterity the state-building exploits performed by the great leader Comrade KIM IL SUNG and to accomplish the cause of building a great, powerful and prosperous socialist country under the respected Comrade KIM JONG IL’s Songun revolutionary leadership on the strength of the single-hearted unity.

The most important success achieved by the WPK and the Korean people this year is that the entire service personnel and people in the DPRK have closed ranks behind the headquarters of the Korean revolution in a single-hearted unity and mustered up their indomitable willpower centering on their determination to willingly risk their lives in defense of the leadership of the Korean revolution. The might of such single-hearted unity and willpower has enabled them to defeat the imperialists in their futile attempts to pressure and blockade the DPRK, to defend the DPRK’s sovereign rights and the dignity of the Korean nation and to add luster to the Korean-style socialism.

Gigantic successes have also been made in further augmenting the DPRK’s national defense capability through the thorough implementation of the great Songun (military-first) policy so that the DPRK has made its high-profile presence felt worldwide as an unrivaled military power possessing its own war deterrent, powerful enough to annihilate any formidable imperialist enemies at one stroke.

In the course of an all-out offensive for building an economically powerful nation, a steady boost in production has been recorded in the basic and priority sectors of the national economy, including electric power industry, coal mining industry, metallurgical industry, and railway transport; agricultural output increased; and modern livestock production centers have also mushroomed across the country.

Fresh successes have been achieved in further improving the people’s living standard and encouraging the development of the socialist culture, so that towns and villages throughout the county have been face-lifted into a picturesque landscape of socialist fairyland, and the public catering services improved.

The great leader Comrade KIM JONG IL has braved the freezing temperatures in the depth of winter as well as the summer swelter of the canicular days [dog days] to follow up with his Songun revolutionary leadership all over the country day and night, thus highlighting the historical significance of this year marking the DPRK’s diamond jubilee that will go down in the history of Korea as an eventful year.

This year’s achievements confirm our belief that the WPK’s far-reaching blueprint will come true in 2012 when we will inaugurate the new era of a great, powerful and prosperous Korea, in honor of the 100th birthday of the great Comrade KIM IL SUNG, father of socialist Korea.

At present, the Workers’ Party of Korea and the Korean people are pushing forward with their general offensive under the Songun leadership of the great Comrade KIM JONG IL to firmly defend and glorify the great leader Comrade KIM IL SUNG’s state-building ideology and accomplishments down through generations and to win final victory in the cause of building a great, powerful and prosperous nation.

The struggle by the Workers’ Party of Korea and the Korean people to build a great, powerful and prosperous nation and achieve Korea’s national reunification is making headway, amid ever-escalating tension fueled by the U.S. imperialists and their underlings that pursue the policy of hostility against the DPRK.

Having increased military threats against the DPRK in recent years, the United States staged a series of joint military exercises with South Korea this year alone, including the “Key Resolve,” “Ulji Focus Lens,” and “Ulji Freedom Guardian,” just to name a few, thus sending the situation teetering on the brink of war. The present-day tensions on the Korean Peninsula are the product of the unchanged U.S. policy of hostility against the DPRK.

Also contributing to the escalating tensions on the Korean Peninsula are the south Korean authorities’ policy of sycophancy to the United States and their machinations to whip up inter-Korean confrontation and war. The south Korean “regime,” which came to office early this year, has U-turned to a policy of explicit subservience to the United States and of confrontations against the DPRK, and is putting the brakes on the implementation of the June 15, 2000 Joint Declaration and October 4, 2007 Declaration, signed at the two rounds of inter-Korean summit meetings, and trying to restore the past era of inter-Korean confrontation against the current era of an independent reunification.

South Korea’s war hawks are leaving no stone unturned in a frantic pursuit of inter-Korean confrontation, instead of the inter-Korean reconciliation and unity, in league with foreign forces, loud mouthing about a “pre-emptive strike” against the DPRK, and they are also planning to stage another large-scale “national defense military exercise” including the marine’s landing operations in November.

The reality shows that the policies of sycophancy to the United States and of confrontation against the DPRK, pursued by south Korea’s Lee Myung Bak “regime” are responsible for the current freeze of the inter-Korean relationship and for the current developments that seriously undermine peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.

The persistence of the United States and South Korean war hawks in their policy of hostility and war against the DPRK has only forced the DPRK’s hand to opt to further boost all of its war deterrence.

The Korean People’s Army and the Korean people are vigilantly watching every move by the United States and its subordinate forces, fully prepared and on the alert to mercilessly punish them for any provocations.

The Workers’ Party of Korea stands consistent in its commitment to the “denuclearization” of the whole Korean Peninsula, peace and reunification of the Peninsula.

We will continue working hard to open up a new era of independent reunification, peace and prosperity through the united efforts of the whole Korean nation under the uplifted banner of the historic June 15 Joint Declaration and October 4 Declaration to realize the cause of Korea’s reunification.

The WPK and the Korean people have successfully foiled the imperialists’ unabated reactionary offensives and acts of aggression against the DPRK and maintained peace on the Korean Peninsula and safeguarded the dignity of the country and nation with flying colors. This is a valuable fruition of the great Songun policy and a clear demonstration of the correctness and invincible vitality of such policy.

We would like to take this opportunity to express our profound gratitude to your Party for your precious support and encouragement to the WPK and the Korean people in their struggle for building a great, powerful and prosperous socialist country and achieving Korea’s reunification.

Convinced that the relations between our two Parties will continue to grow in the interests of the two peoples and on the basis of the ideas of independence, peace and friendship, we sincerely wish you great successes in your responsible work.

Please accept the assurances of our high consideration.

International Department Central Committee Workers’ Party of Korea

CGT-BRAZIL

Dear comrades of Workers World Party of the United States,

On behalf of the Brazilian workers we send ours warmest greetings to your National Conference, showing our joy for the impressive - it is yet difficult to determine the proportions of its magnitude - victory that the American people conquered with the victory of Barak Obama in the elections of the 4th.

We know that the reaction of the workers and of all the peoples of the USA, to the endless gains of the monopolies that submerged the country in the greatest crisis since 1929, was the barrier that prevented the traditional manipulation and fraud that placed terrorist Bush in power for two mandates. The multitude that came out to the streets expressing its hope in the changes, since so long had not done, shows that a new moment can begin.

The policy imposed by the monopolies and the financial capital is isolated. When Bush, in the middle of the uncontrolled crisis, gave more than a trillion dollars to the banks, to the same speculators who provoked the disaster; here in the South, the main heads of state made clear that that predatory policy would not cross our borders.

“We, the developing countries, are not going to pay for the irresponsibility of sectors of the North American financial system. In Brazil, we are going to grow with emphasis in our internal market, with new productive investments, with the workers earning more," Lula said. “Here the money is not for the banks, it is for the production, for the workers,” stressed the Argentine president, Cristina Kirchner. In the same line acts Hugo Chávez of Venezuela: “we already became independent from the IMF, the Bank of the South opens the possibility of bringing the investments and reserves of the South American countries to our continent, to transform them into investments for the development against poverty,” he pointed out.

Uniting with this current, we hope that Obama, like Roosevelt in 1933, use the force of the American people to contain the viciousness of the corporations, to elevate the public investment, to stimulate the internal market, increasing the wages and the benefits of the workers.

The advances were hopeful, and holding this encounter of Workers World in New York, at this moment, shows the disposition, clarity and fighting spirit of the American revolutionaries to reinforce their role of vanguard in society.

The unity of our peoples, with the working class in the front, the integration of the countries of the South, is a force that the workers, men and women of good will of the United States can and must count on in this saga for a world without wars, with respect for the independence of the nations, with development, work and freedom.

We wish much success in the debates. A fraternal embrace from the Brazilian Workers' General Confederation

Workers World Party National ConferenceNov.15-16 2008 New York City

MESSAGE TO THE PARTICIPANTS:

Comrades and Friends, Allow us, first to thank you for inviting us to participate in your National Conference titled « WHY CAPITALISM MUST GO ! » Needless to say that we are honored and proud. It’s also important to cease this occasion to acknowledge your international solidarity that you have demonstrated ( and continue to demonstrate) by helping the international working class with the involvement of Workers World Party in the struggle against the War in Iraq and Afghanistan and the fight against national oppression of African Americans, other minorities and the immigrants

Your National Conference is taking place in a context of the end of Bush’s regime and the beginning of a new situation with Obama’s win. It’s certain that this electoral victory is historical and very symbolic but one has to ask what the working class could expect from the first black president? Is Obama capable of making any significant changes toward the national liberation of oppressed nations in the U.S. and elsewhere? Is he going to concentrate in fixing the capitalist crisis or to help to get rid of the system itself knowing that it is the cause of the crisis?

In our country President Wade has just finished to realize his goal to get rid of the president of the National Assembly ( who used to be his Prime Minister and an icon of his party) in order to pave the way for his son to become his successor. After many violations of the democratic principles, the rights of the people, the repression of the independent press and the imprisonment of journalists, Wade is acting as king at all levels.

Comrades participants

The Workers World National Conference is also taking place in a context of imperialism showing each day how barbaric and aggressive are its domination against peoples and nations around the globe.

[U.S.]American imperialism is a tangible example with its wars in Iraq, in Afghanistan and recently its aggression against the people of Georgia. Thus, today there are no forces that can stop American imperialism from invading, occupying other territories. All alibis are used, all lies are served to justify what is unjustified.

African nations, like any oppressed nations by imperialism are, more than ever disarmed, politically and morally.

In this context, our country, Senegal is directly and economically dominated by French imperialism, still. But American imperialism is doing its best to find ways and means to establish a military base somewhere in West Africa for its own interests. We feel happy to have you as revolutionary anti-imperialist forces in the belly of the beast to unite our views to develop international solidarity in our fight for national liberation, crucial for the social liberation of workers of our country.

Permit me, dear comrades and participants to give you an overview of the destruction of economy by French imperialism:

The politics of privatization implemented since 1980 by the institutions of Bretton Woods (IMF, World Bank and WTO) have brought almost all of our nationalized and semi-nationalized companies into the clutches of the French multinationals.

Some examples:

  • The Senegalese water company SONEES has been privatized and sold to the French group Bouygues.
  • The telephone company SONATEL despite its profit of 76,5 billions [all money in local currency, CFA, which are over 500 to $1 U.S.] in 2003-2004 has been sold to France Telecom.
  • The cement company sold to the French group Vicat.
  • The oil company to Advens another French group.
  • The Senegalese Bank of Development is liquidated and replaced by French commercial banks: SGBS, BICIS, Credit Lyonnais, etc.
  • Savings of Senegalese too because according to a Senegalese expert in finances, 2,500 billions per year are in deposited in Switzerland.
  • The Senegalese lottery company la LONASE with a profit of 100 millions/day has been sold to a French group when in France and in the U.S. that business belongs to the public sector.
  • There are military bases in Senegal, French mainly, with a mission not to protect the country but to protect their interests against any political changes, internally or externally, cases in Congo, Gabon, Centrafrique, Cote d’Ivoire etc.
  • This shows that our development is impossible in this situation of imperialist domination. Our productive forces are destroyed in Senegal and in the continent of Africa. African countries are all facing the same situation of oppression and national liberation movement to end economic dependency.

This shows how the systematic destruction of our economy. This shows how France get richer by exploiting African countries. This is an evidence of how imperialist countries are responsible for our poverty; and this with the help of African governments that participate in it by stealing the public funds to hide it in foreign Bank account like France, Switzerland and the U.S.

Comrades

Our struggle against French and U.S. imperialism is the same struggle that your organization has been developing against your own for the self-determination of African-American peoples up to their separation. Our people and your people and humanity have the same enemy: imperialism.

It is then natural that we put our hands together, that we reinforce our collaboration and the internationalist support, in a concrete way with the understanding that « a nation that oppresses another nation can not be a free one »

In that regard we salute the popularization of the struggle of masses in our country done by Workers World by publishing our reports and political declarations. Comrades,

We hope this National Conference will help to find answers for crucial questions such as:

  • How can we improve the anti-imperialist axis translated by our militant cooperation?
  • How can we help to better popularize the anti-imperialist struggle of oppressed and exploited peoples by U.S. imperialism in our respective countries?
  • How can we improve the internationalist support between our two organizations to make it more concrete, more militant?

In the hope that this National Conference will bring answers to those questions, we wish you a successful conference.

Long live Workers World! Long live RTAS-Union of African Workers-Senegal.! Long live the INTERNATIONALIST Solidarity ! Forward to the National LIBERATION of oppressed peoples! Forward to the LIBERATION of Exploited workers!

SINALTRAINAL

Dear comrades, Participants of the National Conference Workers World/Mundo Obrero Party New York City, 15 and 16 of November of 2008

From Colombia, the workers of the agro-alimentary system organized in SINALTRAINAL, send an immense embrace with solidarity and our best wishes so that the conference that you initiate today gets positive results that will lead to the strengthening of the working class and the peoples' struggles around the world.

A great labor strike of the sugar cane cutters and an immense mobilization of the Indigenous peoples is developing in our Colombia, as a response to the policy of the government of Alvaro Uribe Vélez that day to day impoverishes more and more the vast majority of the people for the benefit of the financial system and the transnational companies, many of them with their headquarters in the United States. The murdering of popular leaders - some of them trade unionist- continues, the arbitrary detentions and penalization of the popular struggle persist; but in spite of all, the process of resistance of our peoples gets stronger and goes forward.

The fights against the Free Trade Agreement are active because we refuse to a greater submission and dependence and because we are firm in our intention of being free and sovereign. The immense solidarity of the peoples of the United States and specially yours, dear comrades, has strengthened us and allows us to continue living.

The war of the transnational companies against the Colombian people continues. The false positives are an evident example of the way that they have continued assassinating men and women to fulfill the exigencies of the powerful. Plan Colombia must end, the imperialist war against our people must stop, this should be one of the demands to the new president, who among others, belongs to the same Democratic Party that implemented it.

The United States has a new President, an African American man has been elected; in Colombia some people celebrate it, but the immense majority thinks that it will be more of the same. Dependency and oppression. The economic crisis that is deepening in the United States touches the global world and the poor people of Colombia are not exempt of this situation created by the powerful of the U.S. financial system. Great challenges await us, the global resistance, the struggle of the people united must be strengthened and continue advancing through new roads of justice and well-being.

To you, dear activist comrades, trade unionists, community organizers and young leaders who from all the corners of the U.S. meet in New York, we augur the best decisions for the betterment of humanity and reiterate our commitment of continuing fighting until victory, always.

NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC FRONT OF THE PHILIPPINES

Solidarity Message to the Workers World Party Conference

           November 15-16, 2008

The National Democratic Front of the Philippines and its 17 allied revolutionary organizations convey warmest and militant greetings of solidarity to the organizers and all the participants of the Workers World Party Conference to be held on November 15-16, 2008.

The theme of the Conference “The New Situation in the U.S. and the World” is very relevant in the face of the new challenges and opportunities confronting the working class and the progressive movements. It is crucially important to come up with a timely analysis of the current global economic crisis so that the people of the world can undertake the needed action to change the exploitative and oppressive monopoly capitalist system.

With the coming installation of a new administration in the United States under Barack Obama, US-led imperialism will once again try to lull the people into thinking that meaningful and radical change within the monopoly capitalist system is possible. But the people of the US and the world will not be fooled. They know that imperialist policies of global hegemonism, plunder and war will continue. And in the current deepening recession and desperation in the US and the world capitalist system, US imperialism will intensify imperialist exploitation and oppression in the US itself and its semi-colonies, covet more areas for expansion and wage wars of counter-revolution and aggression.

The revolutionary movement in the Philippines is determined to continue its struggle for national and social liberation against US imperialism and the local reactionaries presently headed by the fascist, US-backed Arroyo regime. The Filipino people demand a stop to the increasing US military intervention in the Philippines and other forms of imperialist exploitation and oppression. We call on the American people to stand in solidarity with us in our just struggles, just as the Filipino people stand in solidarity with the American people in their struggle against US imperialism.

The crisis of the world capitalist system provides excellent conditions for the working class and other oppressed and exploited people of the world to intensify their revolutionary struggles and advance their interests.

We are confident that the American people will continue their resolute and militant struggle against the monopoly capitalists, the bureaucrat capitalists and other reactionary forces in order to attain real change for social liberation, democracy and progress.

Our very best wishes for the success of the Workers World Party Conference!

COMMUNIST PARTY OF VENEZUELA CENTRAL COMMITTEE To the comrades of the Workers World Party Caracas, 11 of November 2008

Esteemed compañeros y compañeras, delegates and comrades of Workers World Party, and guests to the National Party Conference in New York.

In the name of the Communist Party of Venezuela we send fraternal and revolutionary greeting to militants and friends who fight to end the domination of imperialism and the inequalities that capitalism brought to this earth.

Our Party awaits with great interest the conclusions of your Conference, since surely it will deal with the important issues that also have implications in Venezuela: the policy of North American President-elect Barrack Obama and the financial and economic crisis, events that require a rigorous analysis.

Dear comrades, the world is immersed in a persistent and ever-larger discussion in the search for alternatives that make it possible to end poverty, inequalities and war. In this scenario, the absolute priority of which capitalism boasted after the disintegration of the USSR, instead revealed its weaknesses and exhaustion, because its policies have made life unbearable for the peoples of the world. In this way socialism has become the most viable option as a system to allow the development of nations, faced with the destructions that capitalism and neoliberalism have left us.

In Venezuela the Communist Party of Venezuela at this moment is actively participating in municipal elections that will take place Nov. 23, 2008. In carrying out tasks aimed at the tactical accumulation of forces, especially in the working class and the other employees, we concentrated ourselves on the following strategic tasks: the anti-imperialist struggle and the transition towards the socialist stage that is discussed widely in our country.

The intensification of the contradictions, products of the decomposition of the farce that Capitalism wanted to impose on us with their theory that history had ended. From our country and continent, we see that the construction of our own alternatives are the solutions that the people are waiting for, the progressive current will grow and retake regions in the world, but the threats and obstacles have not stopped nor will they stop, the right and ultra-right continues to dominate key areas that block our way to the victory, but only by defining clear goals and integrated strategies will we be able to prevent new attacks and thus consolidate our triumph.

For these reasons, we saluted we congratulate the call for a National Conference of WWP, an activity that will allow to approach conjunctural and structural issues that are of vital interest for the consolidation of an egalitarian and peaceful society.

Long live proletarian internationalism Long live socialism

From Central Committee of the PCV Oscar Figuera, Secretary General Carolus Wimmer, Secretary of International Relations

MESSAGE TO THE NATIONAL CONFERENCE OF THE WORKERS WORLD PARTY FROM THE CUBAN COMMUNIST PARTY

Dear friends and comrades:

You are having your conference , at a crucial moment of change, where Latin America is the best example of the complete failure of neoliberalism, while the rest of the world is witnessing a real economic nightmare, that is shaking the grounds of capitalism.

In Cuba, after the terrible blows of powerful hurricanes, created in most part because of the rapid climate changes, caused by predatory countries, who for centuries have never thought in the future of our planet earth; our revolution, our government representatives went to the streets to work day and night with the people. that is why nobody feels abandoned, that is why there is hope, when in many other places in the world, the word hope is only an illusion. even before, the Cuban government spent valuable resources, to save their lives, which is indeed, the most valuable thing..

Also, the production and distribution of food and construction materials to the people, have become an absolute priority in our country, and we have received the important help of thousands of friends like you, which will make possible to overcome sooner than later, the current situation.

In the meantime, we will continue our efforts to eliminate racism, injustice, and look after climate change, and for respect to equality, sovereignty, and human rights. a better world is possible, and we know it, because we have lived in it.

Thank you for your braveness, solidarity and unconditional support for Cuba, and against the blockade, who was overwhelmingly rejected , recently, by the united nations, and for the freedom of our five brothers, who from the coldness of an unjust prison, are teaching us a real example of resistance, courage and patriotism

Alberto Prieto
